Geography

At St Paul’s we believe that Geography is an important subject because it helps children develop a better understanding of the world they live in. It encourages them to explore different environments, learn about natural resources, and understand how people’s actions can affect the planet. Geography links closely to our golden threads of Climate Advocacy, Justice and Global Citizenship.

Through Geography, children learn to think carefully about the world around them. They develop skills such as reading maps, interpreting graphs, and analysing data, which help them make sense of information and draw informed conclusions. These critical thinking skills not only support their learning in school but also prepare them to become knowledgeable and responsible citizens in the future.

Fieldwork week

In June, our pupils will be taking part in National Geography Fieldwork, an exciting opportunity to explore and investigate the world beyond the classroom. Through hands-on activities and outdoor learning, children will develop key geographical skills such as observing, collecting data, using maps, and asking important questions about the environment.

Fieldwork helps bring geography to life, allowing pupils to apply their learning in real-world settings and gain a deeper understanding of both human and physical geography. We look forward to sharing our findings and celebrating the children’s discoveries as they develop confidence, curiosity and a greater appreciation of the world around them.
