Welcome to Reception the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) where your child’s exciting school journey begins. We are delighted to welcome you to our friendly, nurturing and engaging learning environment, where every child is encouraged to develop confidence, independence and a love of learning. Through a balance of purposeful play, exploration and carefully planned teaching, we support children to build strong foundations for future success while fostering curiosity, creativity and positive relationships. We look forward to working in partnership with families to ensure every child feels happy, valued and inspired throughout their first year at school.
We have two fantastic classes in Reception: RT and ROB.
RT is taught by Mrs Thurgood (Assistant Headteacher) Tuesday- Friday and Mrs Baynham on Monday.
ROB is taught by Mrs Oliver on Monday – Wednesday and Mrs Baynham Thursday- Fridays.
Our PE days are Tuesday and Friday.
Please come to school in PE kit with suitable trainers.
Encouraging and supporting your child with reading at home will help them to gain confidence.
In Reception, your child’s reading book is changed twice a week: Tuesdays and Fridays.
We would like all children to read aloud at least 5 times a week.
In our first half of term we will be exploring the topic ‘Marvellous Me.’ The children will focus on settling into the new school routines, making friends and sharing what makes them ‘marvellous’.
In the second half of the Autumn term, we will be learning about Celebrations. The children will explore celebrations such as: Bonfire Night, Thanksgiving, Diwali, Christmas and New Year.
