Art and Design

Here at St Paul’s Primary School, we use a scheme called ‘Access Art’ throughout Years 1 to 6. This scheme allows the children to experiment with different types of Art and ensures that they receive a ‘rich, broad, balanced, diverse and engaging art curriculum.’ The scheme features 6 key pathways: Drawing and Sketchbooks, Print, Colour, Collage, Working in Three Dimensions, Paint, Surface, Texture, Working in Three Dimensions and Collaboration and Community. In Key Stage 1, the children really enjoy exploring topics such as simple printmaking, watercolour & drawing upon the natural environment to inspire their art and creativity. In Key Stage 2, the children enjoy experimenting with a broader range of art mediums, such as charcoal, and exploring topics such as storytelling through drawing.

Key Stage One – Creating art inspired by our natural world.
Key Stage One – Printing
Key Stage Two – Experimenting with charcoal.
