Welcome to Year 6
Our Year 6 class teachers are Miss Stephens and Miss Wilson, supported by our teaching assistant, Miss Birch. Mrs Dodson provides PPA cover for 6W on Tuesday afternoons and for 6S on Thursday mornings.
KS2 SATs 2027
Year 6 pupils will complete their KS2 SATs from Monday 10 May to Thursday 13 May 2027. The assessments cover English grammar, punctuation and spelling, English reading and mathematics. Throughout Year 6, we will help children build the knowledge, skills and confidence they need, while ensuring that SATs preparation remains positive and manageable. We encourage families to support children with regular reading, homework and practising key skills at home. Most importantly, we want every child to approach SATs week feeling confident, calm and proud of their efforts
Our PE days are Monday and Thursday. Please ensure that your child comes to school wearing their PE kit on these days and is dressed appropriately for the weather.
For safety during PE lessons, children should not wear watches or jewellery, and long hair must be tied back securely.
Thank you for your support in helping us to keep everyone safe and ready to enjoy PE.
Encouraging and supporting your child with reading at home will help them to gain confidence. We would like to aim for every child to read aloud at home at least 3 times a week. This will support them in preparation for their SATs. Please can this be noted in their Communication book.

Pupils are set new spellings to learn each week, which can be found in their communication books. Spelling tests take place every Monday, so we encourage pupils to practise their words regularly at home to help build confidence and accuracy.
